M12.9 Climate Change

1. What do you personally find most troubling about climate change? I think my current biggest concern, is that some people in our society do not believe climate change is a real thing. This is scary because it does not allow for the proper steps to try to improve this matter. I think it is also troubling how much damage climate change is doing to our bodies. The air quality is also getting worse which increase respiratory and cardiovascular diseases to name a few.

2. As a public health professional, what do you think needs the greatest attention right now? Currently, I think that we need to focus on educating people about climate change. I think that by doing this, more people would understand the seriousness of this matter. This issue affects everyone because we all are receiving the same exposure to climate change based on where we live.

3. If you were visiting with a long-lost relative who had never heard about climate change, how would you describe it and its attendant human health and ecological threats? The best way to communicate things with my family is by showing them data or scientific evidence. With that being said, I would try to find articles discussing climate change and its impact on health.

  1. I also mentioned that I think the biggest challenge with climate change is the idea that many people do not believe it is real. How can we affect change when people do not believe that it is a real problem.

  2. I completely agree with you both. It's sad knowing that people don't believe in science anymore.
