After finishing this module, including watching the YouTube video about a young woman who chose to live a ZERO WASTE life, consider your household waste stream. Are there changes that you might be able to make in your life to live a zero waste life and enter your thoughts/ideas into your blog.
I really enjoyed this module, especially the video we watched. I agree that sometimes I see people using all these plastic items and realized I am the same way. I think the idea of not producing trash seems so difficult yet we can take little steps towards that goal. For example, when using vegetables, instead of throwing that peices we don't use, like the leave, roots, etc, I can save them and use them to make vegetable stock. I have seen this done before and thought this was interesting. Another thing I can do would be to use my recycle grocery bags when I go shopping. I notice that I ALWAYS buy them when I'm at the store, but do not reuse them because I forget them at home. I could make sure to use them and put them back in my car right away so that I will be able to use them again in the future. These are little steps I can begin taking to help reduce waste.
Great ideas! I havent really thought about making my own vegetable stock, but I think that is a great idea. I always forget my grocery bags in my house, so I started leaving them in my trunk. Now I make sure I grab them anytime I am going grocery shopping. This module was pretty cool, Im glad we got to watch it.
ReplyDeleteI always try to keep a box or two in the back of my car when I go grocery shopping. I can just put them there and skip the plastic bags altogether. Plus, it's much easier to carry (at least for me). However, I don't buy my own groceries all that much, but it's still definitely something to keep practicing.
